The province of Agusan del Norte is classified as a 3^rd class province based on DOF order # 23-08 effective July 28, 2008.

Classification of the 10 municipalities of the province range from 2^nd to 5^th class.  Buenavista and Las Nieves are classified 2^nd class municipalities; Jabonga and Nasipit are 3^rd class municipalities; Carmen, Kitcharao, Magallanes, Santiago and Tubay are 4^th class municipalities while RTR is classified as a 5^th class municipality.

The city of Cabadbaran is classified as 5^th class.

Expenditures by Service Areas

Total   expenditures   by   service    areas    from 2005 – 2010   reached   a  total  amount  of

P 2,403,523,885.14   with the social services area getting the highest slice in the expenditure pie - 35.72% or P 858,476,503.98 - while the Legislative Policy Making  area only got 7.27% or P 174,652,893.01.

Expenditures by service areas have been increasing are the 5 year period except in 2007 when total expenditure of service area decreased by P 20,572,328 from P 381,674,996.26 in 2006 to P 361,102,667.81 in 2007.

Internal Revenue Allotment

Internal Revenue Allotment (IRA)   for  Agusan del Norte from 2006 to 2010 reached a total of P 1,992,649.97.  Data shows an increase in the amount of IRA  per year.
